The first comprehensive centre for treating tuberous sclerosis in Canada has been established in Ste. Justine Hospital in Montreal, Quebec.
Tuberous sclerosis (T.S.) is a disease which causes growths on the heart, lungs, brain and has various complications. Tuberous sclerosis occurs in about 1 in 6,000 births worldwide. Canadians suffering from T.S. previously did not have a central location to receive treatment until Dr. Philippe Major established this clinic in Montreal. This clinic will provide the necessary care, treatment and convenience needed in one location for those suffering from T.S. and for their families.
Two additional hospitals, Sick Kids in Toronto and the Vancouver Children’s Hospital, are planning to open similar comprehensive tuberous sclerosis clinics.
