WINDSOR, Ont. — Naturopathic doctor Denis Marier treating several cancer patients by receiving intravenous vitamin C.
The therapy is based on research that suggests vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, can be toxic to cancer cells when administered in high doses. First introduced about 30 years ago, the idea that vitamin C can successfully treat cancer is either dismissed outright or hotly debated among oncologists and scientists.
Marier offers a range of naturopathic remedies and has about 250 patients. He advocates for integration of traditional and alternative cancer treatments.
But Marier points to studies that suggest vitamin C can increase the efficacy of several chemo drugs. He said the effects of vitamin C in cancer patients are better understood today than in previous years — and more research is underway.
